Club News

We have just hosted the IPMS SA Nationals 2007 and it was a blast. The venue, at the Northwest University Conference Centre in Vanderbijlpark, was ideally suited to host the event. A total of 215 entries from 36 modelers were received and the standard of the entries in general were very high. The aircraft and armour entries dominated followed by figures. Here we saw some outstanding work once again.

This was the first time we hosted the event and we would like to thank IPMS SA for the oppurtunity we had. The feedback we received from the modeller's that attended the event was very positive. I have to extend a special thank you to our club chairman, Fanie Venter for all his hard work in organizing the venue and the event as a whole. Well done Fanie. Thanks also to Vaughn Melville, John van Heerden, John Bartman, Juan Beetge, Lorraine Venter and Johan van Loggerenberg for their assistance during the event.

We also like to thank our sponsors who donated graciously to the event. The Toy Train, Meyerton donated the bulk of the prizes for the event. Other prizes were sponsored by Aviation Shop, Randburg, Cape Gate, Vanderbijlpark, Hydro Oil Cooling, Vanderbijlpar as well as Martin, a visitor to the event all the way from the UK.

Diorama entitled "Chason d'Autoume" which won Best Diorama as well as First Place in it's class.

Flak 38 - 1/35 Scale kit from Dragon

Best on Show - 1/12 Scale Yamaha Moto GP by Donald Currie, a member of Gold Reef Modeller's. Brilliant piece of work.

1/20 Scale F-1 Williams Renault by Gerrie Roos, 1st place winner. Well done.
